Choose according to the problem to treat

  • Particles, sand, rust: sediment filter or sand filter.
  • Limescale: water softener or anti-scale device.
  • Bacteria: UV steriliser, on water that is already clear.

Frequently asked questions: Water treatment

What is the difference between a water softener and an anti-scale device?

A water softener removes limescale from the water by ion exchange, with regeneration using salt. An anti-scale device does not remove limescale: it limits its deposit in pipes and appliances.

What is a UV steriliser used for?

It destroys bacteria and micro-organisms with ultraviolet light. The water must be clear: fit it after a filter. The lamp is replaced regularly according to the instructions.

How do I choose a filter cartridge?

Choose the filtration rating in microns: the lower it is, the finer the particles the filter retains. Cartridges are replaced according to the instructions, or sooner if the flow drops.

Should I have the water analysed first?

Yes, a water analysis (hardness, bacteria, iron, nitrates...) lets you choose the right treatment. For drinking water, ask for advice.
