This float is designed to be used with a suction strainer. With its chain fitted with a quick snap hook, it keeps the suction strainer a few centimetres below the surface during suction, to avoid drawing in impurities settled at the bottom of the water.

Hanging and lifting a submerged pump safely

A pump immersed in a well, pit or pond is hung from a stainless steel cable, a chain or a rope, never from its power cable or its hose. This category includes cables, cable clamps, chains, shackles, rope, a manual hoist and floats.

Choosing the right suspension

  • 316 stainless steel: well suited to damp or corrosive environments.
  • Nylon rope: light, for pumps of low weight.
  • Hoist and chain: to lift and lower heavier loads.

Frequently asked questions: Pump suspension accessories

Why should the pump not be hung by its power cable?

The cable is not designed to carry the weight of the pump. It may be damaged, which can cause an electrical fault. Use a separate suspension system.

How do I choose the strength of the cable or chain?

It must well exceed the weight of the pump. See the maximum load given on the product page for each item.

What are the floats for?

The strainer float keeps the suction away from the bottom to avoid pumping mud; the round float serves as a marker or level control depending on the installation.
