Choosing the right cartridge for a 10-inch filter

The cartridge is the part that does the actual filtering: its type determines what it holds back. Polypropylene and wound cartridges stop particles, activated carbon acts on taste and odours, and other cartridges target bacteria.

Understanding fineness in microns

The lower the micron figure, the finer the filtration, but the faster the cartridge clogs. To protect several stages, a coarse cartridge is placed first, then a finer one.

Frequently asked questions: 10-inch filter cartridges

When should a cartridge be changed?

Replace it when the flow drops or the pressure falls, or at the frequency recommended by the manufacturer. A clogged or old cartridge no longer filters properly.

Does a 10-inch cartridge fit every housing?

The 10-inch size is common, but check compatibility with your housing and the length given on the product page. A 20-inch housing needs longer cartridges.

Polypropylene or wound: which one?

Both hold back particles. The wound type generally offers better capacity to retain dirt in depth. Compare the fineness options on the product pages according to your water.
