Frequently asked questions: Borehole and well accessories

Which cable should I use to power a submersible pump?

Use a cable designed for immersion, with a sufficient cross-section for the power and the length. The product page and the pump instructions give the values to follow.

What is a cooling shroud for?

It guides the water around the motor to cool it better, especially when the pump sits in a large body of water or near an inlet. It is available for 4-inch and 6-inch pumps.

How do I lower and hold the pump?

The pump is hung from a stainless steel cable or a rope fixed to the well head, with suitable clamps. Make sure the load it can carry matches the weight of the assembly.
