PVC hose for water: semi-flexible or spiral

PVC is a light, economical material that is easy to cut. There are two main families here: semi-flexible hose for water installations, and spiral hose, reinforced with a rigid spiral that resists crushing. They are sold cut to length or in rolls.

Which hose for which use

  • Semi-flexible: water connections, pools, watering, pump connections.
  • Spiral: suction or delivery, as the spiral keeps the hose from collapsing.
  • Always check diameter, pressure and use on the product page.

Can a spiral PVC hose be used on suction?

Yes, that is its purpose: the rigid spiral keeps the hose from being crushed by the vacuum. Check the diameter and compatibility with your pump on the product page.

How do I choose the diameter of a PVC hose?

Match the diameter of the pump port or the existing coupling. A larger diameter reduces pressure losses over long distances.

Does a PVC hose withstand all temperatures?

No. PVC softens with heat and stiffens in hard frost. Check the temperature range on the product page, and do not use a PVC hose for hot water unless it is designed for it.
