Express fittings: brass or stainless, with a choice of gasket

The Express fitting is a half-coupling system (male, female or ribbed) sealed by a gasket. It comes in brass or 316 stainless steel, with caps to close an end.

Choosing the gasket and material

  • NBR gasket: common gasket, suited to water and many uses.
  • Viton gasket: chosen for more demanding fluids or temperatures.
  • Brass or 316 stainless: stainless steel suits more aggressive environments.

Frequently asked questions: Express fittings

What is the difference between an NBR and a Viton gasket?

They do not resist the same fluids or temperatures. Check compatibility with your liquid on the product page, especially for chemicals.

What does a large-bore gasket mean?

It is a flat gasket with a wide central opening, designed not to restrict the flow. Replace it when it is worn, hardened or crushed.

When should I choose stainless steel rather than brass?

Choose 316 stainless steel for corrosive environments or demanding food-related or outdoor use. Brass suits everyday uses with water.
