A small bladder tank on the pump discharge

An in-line pump tank is a small-volume tank (from a few litres to around forty litres) fitted in line at the pump outlet. It cushions pressure variations, limits starts and reduces water hammer.

Which tank for which installation?

  • Stainless steel tank: for damp environments or uses requiring a suitable material.
  • In-line tank: mounted directly on the pipe, as close to the pump as possible.
  • Maximum pressure: from 10 to 25 bar depending on the models, to be compared with your network.

Frequently asked questions: In-line pump tanks

Where should a pump tank be connected?

On the pump outlet or the discharge pipe, as close as possible. It must be accessible so that the air pressure can be checked.

Is an 8 or 25 litre tank enough?

It depends on the pump flow and the use. A small volume suits low flows; above that, a larger tank avoids starts that are too frequent.

What air pressure should be set?

The precharge is set according to the installation's start pressure. Measure it with no water, using a gauge, and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
