Collecting rainwater for the garden and household uses

A harvesting system includes a tank (above ground or buried), a pump or booster set and often a rainwater manager, which switches to the mains if the tank is empty. The water is used for watering, cleaning and, depending on regulations, some indoor uses.

What to plan for

  • Tank: volume according to the roof and your needs, with a version suited to burying if required.
  • Upstream filtration to hold back leaves and debris.
  • Pump: submersible, floating suction or low suction, depending on the installation.

Frequently asked questions: Rainwater harvesting

Is rainwater drinkable?

No, it is not intended for drinking. Its indoor use (toilets, washing machine) is regulated: find out the rules before carrying out the installation.

What is a rainwater manager for?

It controls the pump and automatically switches to mains water when the tank is empty, so you never run short of water. Details are on each product page.

Which pump should I choose for a rainwater tank?

It depends on the tank: a submersible pump for a deep tank, a floating suction pump to draw water near the surface. Compare the flow and pressure with your needs.
