A tank to steady pressure or to store water

This category brings together diaphragm tanks (expansion vessels), vertical and horizontal tanks, liquid storage tanks and rainwater harvesting solutions.

Selection criteria

  • Capacity in litres, according to the pump flow and the number of starts to limit.
  • Maximum working pressure, higher than the pressure of your installation.
  • Material: galvanised steel or stainless steel, and a diaphragm suited to drinking water if needed.

Frequently asked questions: Pressure tanks

What does a diaphragm tank do with a pump?

It holds a reserve of pressurised water that limits the number of pump starts and absorbs pressure changes. The pump no longer starts every time a tap is opened, which extends its life.

How do I set the pre-charge pressure?

Inflate the tank when empty (no water) to about 0.2 bar below the pump start pressure, then check this pressure at least once a year. Follow the values in the manufacturer's instructions.

What tank capacity should I choose?

The bigger the tank, the less often the pump starts. Choose it according to the pump flow and how often it is used: the product page gives the capacity and the maximum pressure.

Can I use a tank for drinking water?

Yes, provided you choose a model whose diaphragm is approved for drinking water. Check this on the product page.
