Materials chosen to withstand the pumped liquid

A pump for corrosive liquids is made from resistant materials: 304 or 316 stainless steel, bronze, titanium. It is used to lift or transfer aggressive or saline water and liquids carrying products that would attack ordinary cast iron or plastic.

Choosing the right material

  • Nature of the liquid, its concentration and its temperature.
  • Chemical compatibility of the pump body, impeller and seals.
  • Liquid load: lightly loaded or loaded, depending on the model.

Frequently asked questions: Pumps for corrosive liquids

Stainless steel, bronze or titanium: how to choose?

It all depends on the liquid. There is no universal material: check compatibility with your product with the manufacturer before ordering.

Do seals matter as much as the pump body?

Yes. Seals and gaskets must also resist the liquid. The product page gives their material; if in doubt, ask for advice before buying.

What precautions should I take when using it?

Wear the protection required by the product handled, rinse the pump if the manufacturer recommends it, and follow its instructions for use and for disposal of the liquid.
