A solenoid valve to automate opening and closing

A solenoid valve opens or closes a fluid circuit under electrical control. It is used to automate filling, watering or the supply of an installation. This selection includes drinking-water solenoid valves with assisted diaphragm or direct action, and a motorised ball valve.

Points to check

  • Direct or assisted action: an assisted solenoid valve needs a minimum pressure difference to open.
  • Coil voltage and available power supply.
  • Diameter, maximum pressure and type of fluid.

Frequently asked questions: Solenoid valves

What is the difference between direct action and assisted diaphragm?

With direct action, the coil opens the passage alone, even without pressure. The assisted version uses line pressure and needs a minimum pressure given on the product page.

Is a solenoid valve suitable for drinking water?

Only models stated for drinking water on the product page should be used for this purpose. Follow the manufacturer's manual for installation.

Which way should it be fitted?

Follow the flow arrow marked on the body and fit a filter upstream so that impurities do not hinder closing.
