ATEX stands for "ATmosphères EXplosibles" (explosive atmospheres). These pumps are designed to work where flammable gases, vapours or dust may build up: fuel depots, petrol stations, the chemical industry, paint and the food industry.
ATEX refers to the European regulations for equipment intended for explosive atmospheres. ATEX equipment is designed not to cause an explosion and carries a marking that states the conditions in which it can be used.
Zones are numbered 0 to 2 for gases and 20 to 22 for dust. The site operator defines the zone; the pump marking must match that zone. Read the plate and the product page, and ask for advice if in doubt.
Petrol gives off flammable vapours: a pump intended for petrol must be designed for that use, with the right marking. You can find these models in the ATEX petrol pump category.
Yes: follow the manufacturer's instructions and keep to original parts. A modification or a non-compliant repair can cancel the ATEX protection.
Our team helps you choose the right equipment for your installation: call +33 3 44 25 91 01 Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm (French time), or email contact@pompes-h2o.com.
