The motor that drives the borehole pump

The submersible motor sits below the pump end, in the borehole, and runs entirely underwater. It is chosen separately from the hydraulic part: the range includes 4-inch and 6-inch motors, single-phase or three-phase, in 304 or 316 stainless steel.

Points to check

  • The diameter: 4 or 6 inches, matching the pump and the borehole.
  • The power supply: single-phase (230 V) or three-phase (400 V).
  • The power: to be matched to what the pump end requires.

Frequently asked questions: Submersible motors

Is a submersible motor compatible with any pump?

No. The motor must have the same diameter as the pump end and a compatible coupling. Check the characteristics on the product page of both parts.

Single-phase or three-phase?

The choice depends on your electrical installation. Single-phase is enough for lower powers, while three-phase is common for higher powers. See the product page for the values.

What is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel?

316 stainless steel resists corrosion better than 304, especially in more aggressive water. Depending on the quality of your borehole water, choose the material that suits it best.
