What is in a fire pump kit?

A fire pump kit has what you need to put a water reserve to use: the engine-driven pump (pump and combustion engine), a trolley or protective frame, a suction hose with strainer, a delivery hose with its fittings and a fire lance. Some kits are delivered assembled, with the hoses already connected. A few examples:

What is the difference between a pump and an engine-driven pump?

An engine-driven pump is a pump driven by a combustion engine (petrol or diesel). It works without electricity, which is an advantage in a fire or a power cut, and can be taken to where the water is.

What flow rate does a fire pump have?

It depends on the model and the pressure: for example up to 450 l/min (maximum pressure 5 bar) for a 5.5 HP Honda kit, or 14 m3/h (about 233 l/min) at 5.1 bar for the 5.5 HP Tsurumi pump. The flow falls as the pressure or the height rises: read the curve on the product page.
