Pumps designed for water containing suspended solids

A pump for dirty water lets particles pass through that a clear water pump could not handle: light sludge, residues, domestic or process wastewater. The range includes submersible pumps and lifting kits, often fitted with a vortex impeller or a channel impeller.

How to choose one

  • Free passage: the size of solids accepted is given on the product page.
  • Discharge diameter (DN) and the lifting height to overcome.
  • Power supply, single-phase or three-phase, depending on your installation.

Frequently asked questions: Pumps for dirty water

What is the difference with a clear water pump?

Its impeller and internal passages are sized for suspended solids. A clear water pump would clog or wear out quickly with this kind of liquid.

Vortex impeller or single-channel impeller: which one?

A vortex impeller limits the risk of clogging and suits moderately loaded water. For heavier loads, check the free passage given on the product page.

Do I need accessories?

A non-return valve on the discharge, a float or a control panel and suitable piping are generally needed. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation.
