A submersible pump for a 4-inch borehole

4 inches (about 100 mm) is the most common borehole pump diameter. These pumps are designed for a borehole whose inner diameter is at least 4 inches, for supplying a house, irrigation or farm use.

How to choose

  • Inner diameter of the borehole: the pump must fit with some clearance.
  • Depth of the water while pumping and discharge height.
  • Borehole yield: do not exceed what it can supply.

Frequently asked questions: 4" borehole pumps

My borehole is 4 inches: will a 4-inch pump fit?

Yes, if the real inner diameter is at least equal to that of the pump, with a little room for the cable and the pipe. If in doubt, measure the casing.

How do I calculate the total head?

Add the depth of the pump below the water level while pumping, the height to the point of use and the friction losses in the pipes.

What electrical equipment should I add?

Depending on the model: a control box or a capacitor, a suitable cable and protection against lack of water. The product page states the power supply.
